Making Words

First grade

This series of lessons was developed for the first grade team at PV. Creating them in a digital format allowed the teacher to teach the lessons without having to deal with the set up and clean up. Furthermore, the way our labs are set up made it easy to see what word(s) the student made at a glance. It is based on the book: Making Words -- First Grade. If you want to use these lessons, you will need to buy the book, as it describes each "making words" lesson in detail, as well as the sorting lesson that comes after. The password to the sorting lesson is the final word the students make in the "making words" lesson -- we found that some students would click ahead to see all the words and that really spoiled the lesson.

It should be noted that the lessons were correlated to the reading curriculum that the first grade team was teaching and are not in the order the book puts them in.
